How to Attach DIY Balloon Tassel Tails (With or Without Helium!)

Updated: Jul 8

Welcome to this week's Sunshine Tip Tuesday: Easy DIY Party Decor! If you've seen our recent Instagram Reel, you know we're all about making party decor easier, cuter, and reusable. Today, I’ll walk you through how to attach your DIY balloon tassel tails. We’ll explore two different methods: using helium or a reusable balloon stand (my personal favorite!).

Option 1: Using a Balloon Stand (No Helium Needed!)

Balloon stands are a true game changer if you don’t want to deal with helium. They are also reusable for multiple events! Click here to find my favorite stands from Amazon! (Affiliate link)

What You'll Need:

  • DIY tassel tail

  • An already inflated balloon

  • String

  • Glue dots

  • Scissors

  • Balloon weight (optional — usually included with the stand)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Inflate your balloon and insert the tied end through one slot on the balloon cup.

  2. Hook the knot around the two side tabs to secure it in place.

  3. Twist the balloon cup onto the stand base.

  4. Take the string from your tassel tail and tuck it into the balloon cup.

  5. Weave the string through the small side slots on the cup to secure it.

  6. Add a glue dot for extra hold between the balloon and the cup.

  7. Fluff out the tassel and adjust the height of your stand.

  8. Optionally, wrap any excess string around the back of the stand for additional support.

Option 2: Using Helium

If you prefer a floating balloon look, helium works great too! This option is especially effective for smaller projects or when you want to use 100% helium.

You’ll Need:

  • DIY tassel tail

  • Helium-filled balloon

  • String

  • Balloon weight

Steps:

  1. Inflate your balloon with helium.

  2. Tie the bottom of the tassel tail string to your balloon weight.

  3. Create a small loop at the top of the tassel tail.

  4. Tie the loop directly onto the balloon knot.

Final Look

Whether you're using helium or a stand, tassel tails add a pop of personality to your balloon decor. These options are perfect for birthdays, showers, or any celebration where you want a fun and stylish touch!

Why Use Reusable Supplies?

Using reusable supplies, such as balloon stands, not only saves money but also helps the environment. By avoiding single-use items, you minimize waste. Plus, reusable items allow for creativity in planning future events. Let your imagination run wild!

DIY Tips for a Decor That Stands Out

  1. Mix and Match Colors: Use various colors of balloons and tassels for a vibrant look.

  2. Size Variation: Incorporate different balloon sizes. Larger balloons can serve as statement pieces, while smaller ones can fill gaps.

  3. Theme Consistency: Ensure your colors and styles align with your event’s theme. It creates a unified, visually appealing design.

Conclusion

Creating beautiful balloon decor can be easy and fun! With the right tools and a little creativity, you can make your celebrations memorable.
