How to Attach DIY Balloon Tassel Tails (With or Without Helium!)






Welcome to this week's Sunshine Tip Tuesday! If you've seen our recent Instagram Reel, you know we're all about making party decor easier, cuter, and reusable. Today, I’m walking you through how to attach your DIY balloon tassel tails — two different ways: using helium or a reusable balloon stand (my personal favorite!).


Option 1: Using a Balloon Stand (No Helium Needed!)

Balloon stands are a game changer if you don’t want to deal with helium — plus they’re reusable for multiple events! Click here for my favorite stands that I use from Amazon! (Affiliate link)

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • DIY tassel tail

  • Balloon (already inflated)

  • String

  • Glue dots

  • Scissors

  • Weight bag (optional — usually included with the stand)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Inflate your balloon and insert the tied end through one slot on the balloon cup.

  2. Hook the knot around the two side tabs to lock it securely in place.

  3. Twist the balloon cup onto the stand base.

  4. Take the string from your tassel tail and tuck it into the balloon cup.

  5. Weave the string through the small side slots on the cup to secure it.

  6. Add a glue dot if you want extra hold between the balloon and the cup.

  7. Fluff out the tassel and adjust the height of your stand.

  8. Optional: wrap the excess string around the back of the stand for more support.


Option 2: Using Helium

If you prefer the floating balloon look, helium works great too — especially for smaller projects or when using 100% helium.

You’ll need:

  • DIY tassel tail

  • Helium-filled balloon

  • String

  • Balloon weight

Steps:

  1. Inflate your balloon with helium.

  2. Tie the bottom of the tassel tail string to your balloon weight.

  3. Create a small loop at the top of the tassel tail.

  4. Tie the loop directly onto the balloon knot.

Final Look

Whether you're using helium or a stand, tassel tails add the perfect touch of personality to your balloon decor. These options are great for birthdays, showers, or any celebration where you want a fun, stylish pop!
